Facts you need to know about Kereta Tuah

Proton Tuah

(New Proton Persona)

Proton has chosen the floors at the 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) when it wanted to showcase its Tuah Concept last week. The design study could preview a future generation of Persona automobiles.

While Proton has not made known for a fact if the concept cars will go into production, the four-door Tuah Concept sedan could very well be the preview for the next-generation Persona R, the successor to the current Persona which is one of the main models behind Proton’s strong sales. The lines of the mock-up look production ready, especially the front fascia. The concept even sports LED daytime running lights and a set of 17 inch wheels. Looking a bit like a cross between a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Mercedes Benz C-Klasse, the Tuah comes with a deep chin spoiler, turn signals incorporated into the mirrors and a black B pillar.

Proton has also revealed a multitude of concepts, all sporting names in honor of the warriors of the great era of the Malacca Sultanate. The most famous of them was Hang Tuah, who lived in the 15th century during the reign of Sultan Mansur Shah.

The Proton Persona is a compact car introduced by Proton in 2007 for the same model year. Being an in-house design by Azlan Othman, the Persona replaced the saloon variant of the Proton Wira. The model received a facelift this year, giving it new headlamps, front grille, front and rear bumper, bodykit, and LED tail lamps. All of the manufacturer’s models are made at Proton’s Tanjung Malim plant in Tanjung Malim, Malaysia.
